Weekly Update

Posted on Monday, August 27th, 2007 by Pat

This Wednesday evening, August 29 at 8 PM, you can catch Eddie — along with Kenny Forgione of the band Wonderous Stories and John Merjave from the band Liverpool — in a special performance of Beatles music. This trio, fine musicians and vocalists all, will be at The Common Ground in Sayville. The Common Ground is a public park so bring chairs or a blanket. Click on their name to visit their website for directions.

Ed then returns to playing with Jim and I on Saturday, September 1, at Claudio’s, 111 Main Street, in Greenport. We’ll be playing from 2 until 6.

We have a few private dates after that, with our next public date being Saturday, September 15, at Matty T’s Roadhouse, 356 Commack Rd., Deer Park.

Can you believe that Labor Day weekend is here? Have a great week.

Weekly Update

First off, I would be remiss in not thanking the people who came out to Hudson & McCoy on Friday night in spite of the weather — turning a rainy Friday night into something special — and in not thanking the people who turned out at Claudio’s yesterday afternoon to “rock the dock.” I know I speak for Eddie and Jim when I extend a heartfelt “thank you” for your support.

We will be playing the Windsor Park Pool in Eddie’s home town of Bayside this Saturday and the Sun & Surf Beach Club on Sunday. Both of these dates are private – our next public gig will be at Claudio’s, 111 Main Street, Greenport, on Saturday afternoon, September 1, at 2 PM.

And speaking of Eddie and public gigs I’d like to remind you, especially the Beatle fans on this list, that he will be playing with Kenny Forgione of the band Wonderous Stories and John Merjave from the band Liverpool in a special night of Beatles music. The trio will be performing on Wednesday, August 29th at 8 PM at The Common Ground in Sayville. The Common Ground is an outdoor park (as are most parks!) with a covered area to accomodate performers. Just remember to bring a chair or a blanket!  Click on the Common Ground link above for directions.

And speaking of Eddie and links, many of you may have noticed that he’s been keeping his camera busy of late during our breaks.  His photos can be found by visiting our website at http://www.xsessionmusic.com/photos.php. Check back often as he’s been updating them nearly every week.

I suppose that’s it for this week, please have a good one and I’ll talk to you soon.

Following a weekend off we get back to work on Friday, August 17, at Hudson & McCoy, 340 Woodcleft Avenue, Freeport. We start at 7 PM and play until 11.

Saturday’s gig is private, but on Sunday, August 19th, we’re on the outdoor deck at Claudio’s, 111 Main Street, Greenport.   Fill up your tank and take a ride and see some of the most beautiful scenery Long Island has to offer. Oh yeah, we play from 2 PM until 6.

I’d also like to mention that our very own Eddie Profet Jr. — X-Session’s bassist, harmonica & tambourine player, vocalist, photographer, and musicologist — will be playing alongside Wonderous Stories’ Kenny Forgione and Liverpool’s (the band, not the city) John Merjave in a night of Beatles music. These three exceptional musicians will be performing in an outdoor setting, The Common Ground in Sayville, on Wednesday evening, August 29, at 8 PM. Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy a late summer’s evening with three walking Beatles’ encyclopedias.

Also, a belated “thank you” to those of you who saw us at Five Towns College on August 3rd. Your support was much appreciated, and you proved that you CAN listen to X-Session without a beer in your hand…….

That’s all for now, folks, talk to you next week.

Pat
