Weekly Update
Posted on Monday, June 29th, 2009 by PatThe Independence Day holiday is fast approaching, and with it there are some dates to talk about.
On Friday July 3rd, we make our debut at The Fishery, 1 Main St., East Rockaway. We start at approximately 9:30 PM, but prior to that there is a Stars and Stripes festival — in which street vendors will be set up in the parking lot across the street — culminating in a fireworks display presented by the town from a floating platform in the canal. The show can be seen from the restaurant, and we will go on after the fireworks and play until 1 AM. Also, keep in mind that the municipal lot that normally provides much of the parking will not be available, and the Fishery’s management suggests that it may easier for you to park at the East Rockaway LIRR station and walk the two blocks to the restaurant.
On Saturday we see our good friends from Windsor Park in Bayside for a private date, and then on Sunday July 5, we head out to Greenport on the North Fork for an afternoon gig at Claudio’s, 111 Main Street. We go on sometime around 1:30-2 and stop playing about 4 hours later.
Looking ahead, we’re going to give it a try again at Hudson & McCoy, 340 Woodcleft Avenue, Freeport, on Friday evening July 10. We play from 7 PM until 11, and hopefully the weather cooperates this time. On Sunday the 12th we’ll be at JC’s in Manorville on the outdoor deck that overlooks the Pine Hills Country Club Golf Course from 4 until 8 PM.
I also wanted to start mentioning, especially since we rarely play weeknight gigs, that we will be at the Jones Beach Bandshell on Thursday night, July 23rd at 7:45.
And don’t forget you can follow us — including getting those all-important weather updates — at twitter.com/XSessionmusic.
If we don’t get the chance to tell you personally this weekend, please have a safe and enjoyable holiday. I’ll speak with you next week.
Pat
