Weekly Update

Posted on Monday, June 29th, 2009 by Pat

The Independence Day holiday is fast approaching, and with it there are some dates to talk about.

On Friday July 3rd, we make our debut at The Fishery, 1 Main St., East Rockaway. We start at approximately 9:30 PM, but prior to that there is a Stars and Stripes festival — in which street vendors will be set up in the parking lot across the street — culminating in a fireworks display presented by the town from a floating platform in the canal. The show can be seen from the restaurant, and we will go on after the fireworks and play until 1 AM. Also, keep in mind that the municipal lot that normally provides much of the parking will not be available, and the Fishery’s management suggests that it may easier for you to park at the East Rockaway LIRR station and walk the two blocks to the restaurant.

On Saturday we see our good friends from Windsor Park in Bayside for a private date, and then on Sunday July 5, we head out to Greenport on the North Fork for an afternoon gig at Claudio’s, 111 Main Street. We go on sometime around 1:30-2 and stop playing about 4 hours later.

Looking ahead, we’re going to give it a try again at Hudson & McCoy, 340 Woodcleft Avenue, Freeport, on Friday evening July 10. We play from 7 PM until 11, and hopefully the weather cooperates this time. On Sunday the 12th we’ll be at JC’s in Manorville on the outdoor deck that overlooks the Pine Hills Country Club Golf Course from 4 until 8 PM.

I also wanted to start mentioning, especially since we rarely play weeknight gigs, that we will be at the Jones Beach Bandshell on Thursday night, July 23rd at 7:45.

And don’t forget you can follow us — including getting those all-important weather updates — at twitter.com/XSessionmusic.

If we don’t get the chance to tell you personally this weekend, please have a safe and enjoyable holiday.  I’ll speak with you next week.

Saturday night’s gig at Hudson & McCoy has been cancelled due to inclement weather.  No word yet from Claudio’s about Sunday’s date.

X-Session on Twitter

As we head into our outdoor season, and as the weather continues to be wet and cool, I thought it a good idea to establish a Twitter account for the band. This allows me to send updates — such as weather cancellations — from my cell phone and, if you wish, you can have the updates sent to your cell phone as well as your computer. Our name on Twitter is XSessionmusic (X-Session was already taken). The website is twitter.com and you can access us directly at twitter.com/XSessionmusic.

Considering the lousy forecast for this weekend, I thought this was something I should set up right away and, who knows, maybe in the future I’ll update things like songs we’ve added and such.

Weekly Update

We’re hoping for a break from the wet weather this weekend as we have a pair of outdoor gigs.

First, on Saturday June 20th, we play our first date of the year on Woodcleft Ave when we return to Hudson & McCoy, 340 Woodcleft Avenue, Freeport. We start at 7 PM and end at 11 sharp.

And on Father’s Day, Sunday June 21, we’ll be at Claudio’s, 111 Main Street, Greenport. As usual, we play from 2 until 6. Also, this is the weekend of the 55th annual Strawberry Festival, which runs on Sunday from 11 until 5. You can learn more about that event by clicking here.

Once again it bears mentioning that these dates are weather-permitting so please give the conditions some thought. Hudson & McCoy’s phone number is (516) 868-3411 and Claudio’s can be reached at (631) 477-1889 — call if you’re not certain.

Those are our last public dates for the month of June, as we have a private date when we open the Sun & Surf  Beach Club on Saturday the 27th.  We’ll be at the Fishery in East Rockaway on Friday July 3rd and at Claudio’s on Sunday July 5th.

Have a great week, looking forward to seeing some of our Nassau County people on Saturday night.

Weekly Update

Posted on Monday, June 8th, 2009 by Pat

First off, one more big “we’re sorry” about the short notice cancellation at Nappers Northport on Saturday.  Unfortunately these things happen occasionally in this business and we just hope the inconvenience to all of you was kept to a minimum.

Now for happier news. We will be returning to Matty T’s Roadhouse, 356 Commack Road, Deer Park, this Saturday, June 13 — playing from 10 until 2.

Then on Saturday June 20, we have our first date of the season at Hudson & McCoy, 340 Woodcleft Avenue, Freeport. This is an early-evening gig going from 7 PM until 11.

On Father’s Day, Sunday June 21st, we’re back home at Claudio’s, 111 Main Street, Greenport. This weekend is also the annual Strawberry Festival on the North Fork so keep that in mind as both a positive: you can come out early and visit the festival — and a negative: heavier-than-usual traffic on Rts. 25 and 25A. I personally know nothing of what the Festival is about but I’ve a pretty good guess it has something to do with strawberries. And there’s probably rides for the kids as well.

So anyway have a wonderful week and I’ll speak with you soon.

We regret to inform you, especially on such short notice, that the gig tonite at Napper Tandy’s in Northport has been cancelled as the club inadvertantly booked two bands for this date.  Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience.  We’ll see you tomorrow afternoon in Greenport.

We have a 10 PM date this Saturday, June 6, at Napper Tandy’s, 229 Laurel Avenue, Northport. No happy hour here, this one is from 10 PM until 2 AM.

Then, precisely 12 hours later — Sunday, June 7 — we’ll be starting up on the outdoor deck at Claudio’s, 111 Main Street, Greenport. We’ll play there until 6 PM after the 2 o’clock start. This is the first of two Sunday afternoon dates in Greenport in June as we’re there again on Sunday the 21st.

On Saturday, June 13, we return to Matty T’s Roadhouse, 356 Commack Road, Deer Park, where we’ll play from 10 PM until 2.

And finally, we return to Nassau County for what seems like the first time in years on Saturday, June 20. We’ll be in Freeport at Hudson & McCoy, 340 Woodcleft Avenue, Freeport, from 7 PM until 11.

Happy June, talk to you next week.
