We have a pair of gigs this upcoming weekend beginning with a Happy Hour at Napper Tandy’s, 15 E. Main Street, Smithtown, on Friday, April 11. We’ll begin at 7 and play until 10ish when the house DJ takes over.
Then on Saturday, April 12, we return to Sunset Grill, 4068 Sunrise Hwy, Seaford. Please note that game time here is 9:30 PM which is a half-hour earlier than usual. We’ll play until 1:30.
Jim has minor throat surgery on the 17th — although I’m sure Jim would agree that surgery is only minor when it’s performed on someone else! – and as a result we’re off until a doubleheader weekend at Napper’s Smithtown on May 9 and Matty T’s on May 10.
My knee is coming along nicely, thanks to those who’ve wished me well in my recovery.
I’ll speak to you in a few weeks.

Hello again! First a brief medical update: Jim’s throat surgery was postponed until April 17, and my knee surgery last week — while successful — required a procedure that will extend the recuperation period to approximately six weeks. Perhaps I’ll play gigs seated in a Rascal Scooter!
Speaking of gigs, the next one will be this Friday, April 4, at JC’s Restaurant, 2 Country Club Dr., Manorville. We start at 9 PM and only play until 12 so don’t be late.
The following weekend we have a doubleheader beginning with a Happy Hour date at Napper Tandy’s, 15 E. Main Street, Smithtown on Friday, April 11, from 7 PM until 10ish. Then on Saturday, April 12, we’ll be at Sunset Grill, 4068 Sunrise Hwy, Seaford from 10 PM until 2.
Also, please note that because of the rescheduling of Jim’s surgery, the date at Napper’s Miller Place on April 18 that’s on the website has been cancelled. Our next dates after Sunset Grill will be May 9 and 10 at Napper’s Smithtown and Matty T’s, respectively.
I’d like to take a moment to thank those of you who came down to Governor’s to “Zinc Avenue, 11 AM” a few weeks ago and to thank you for the cards and e-mails I’ve received wishing me well with my recovery.
I’ll speak with you next week, have a good one!

No gigs to write about until JC’s in Manorville on April 4, but I wanted to remind you that I’ll be appearing on the stage at Governor’s Comedy Club, 90A Division Ave, Levittown, in a John Blenn play, “Zinc Ave, 11 AM” (somehow Zinc Ave does sound so “Levittown”). The play runs three nights only, March 17, 18, & 19. Tickets are 10 dollars in advance and 12 dollars at the door the night of the show. They can be purchased by calling Middle Class American Productions at (516)783-8863 or by calling Governor’s at (516)731-3358.
Have a great week.

We’ve got a couple of dates this weekend before a medical hiatus shuts us down for the rest of the month. It begins with a Happy Hour this Friday, March 7, at Napper Tandy’s, 15 E. Main Street, Smithtown. We’ll get started at about 7 PM and play until 10.
Then it’s only fitting that we finish up with a date at one of our favorite locales, Matty T’s Roadhouse, on Saturday evening, March 8. The start time here is 10 PM and, as always, they’re located at 356 Commack Road, Deer Park.
The Jim gets his throat fixed, I get my knee scoped, and voila we reappear at JC’s Restaurant in Manorville on Friday April 4.
In the interim, I’ll be honing my rapier-like comic timing on the stage at Governor’s Comedy Club on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings March 17, 18, & 19 in a John Blenn play, “Zinc Ave, 11 AM.” The play is a series of sketches depicting numerous families on a fictitious block at the same moment in time, Saturday morning at 11 AM. Governor’s is located at 90A Division Ave (behind the Tri-County Flea Market), in Levittown. Tickets are 10 dollars in advance and 12 dollars at the door the night of the show. They can be purchased by calling Middle Class American Productions at (516)783-8863 or by calling Governor’s at (516)731-3358.
I’ll remind you about the play again next week and will keep you posted on our various imfirmities. Have a good week and we’ll hopefully see you this weekend.

We’ve added a new date to the schedule — we’re going to play a Happy Hour on Friday, March 7, at Napper Tandy’s, 15 E Main St, Smithtown at 7 PM. Then the following evening our final, pre-Jim’s-surgery, gig will be at Matty T’s Roadhouse, 356 Commack Road, Deer Park. Here we get underway at 10 PM.
Jim’s procedure is scheduled a few days after, and I’ll be having knee surgery later in the month. As it currently stands, us creaky old men (and young buck Joe DeJesu) will return to playing on Friday April 4 at JC’s Restaurant in Manorville.
In other news, I’m happy to report that I’ll be appearing in another John Blenn original comedy, “Zinc Ave, 11 AM.” The play runs three nights only, March 17, 18, & 19 at Governor’s Comedy Club, 90A Division Ave (behind the Tri-County Flea Market), in Levittown. Tickets, which are 10 dolars in advance and 12 dollars at the door the night of the show, can be purchased by calling Middle Class American Productions at (516)783-8863 or by calling Governor’s at (516)731-3358.
That’s it for this week, talk to you soon.

Some of you may have noticed my mention in last week’s e-mail of a new member, Joe DeJesu. Towards that end, Jim has asked to explain the reasons for Joe’s addition, and it’s included here following a very brief schedule update.
This Friday, February 15, we’ll be at Napper Tandy’s, 275 RT 25A, Miller Place. We’ll play from 7:30 until 11ish. On Saturday the 16, we’re at Sunset Grill, 4068 Sunrise Hwy, Seaford, starting at 10 PM. Ok, here’s Jim………….
Hey Folks ..
Jim, here .. being that there is some stuff going on in my life, I asked if I could give this week’s update. As some of you may have guessed, I’m having trouble with the old vocal cords again and will be having surgery on March 11. The good news is that the procedure will not be done on the same vocal fold. The bad news is that I can’t sing for around three months. So instead of taking another lengthy hiatus, we collectively decided to welcome a new member into X-Session. Can you believe it? As was mentioned in last week’s email, his name is Joe DeJesu. He’s an excellent acoustic guitar player, a wonderful singer, and perhaps most importantly - a hell of a great guy as well. He was our unanimous choice and luckily for us, was available.
Joe will be added to the mix helping me to relinquish my vocal responsibilities for the coming months. I’ll still be able to smack the skins but will have duct tape over my mouth – which some of you may not mind. Ha, ha, ha .. So we’ll still maintain our standard schedule up to and through the summer months. Hopefully I’ll return to singing in late June or early July. Then look out, people! Behold, the evolution of X-Session .. with four part harmonies. A whole new rock-n-roll experience … slightly askew!
As always, thanks so much for all of the well wishes and support. See you real soon!!!

We’re visiting the Napper Tandys again the next couple of Fridays for Happy Hours in Smithtown this Friday, February 8, and Miller Place on Friday, February 15. Start time is a close as possible to 7 PM — Smithtown ends at 10, Miller Place, 10:30.
And on Saturday, February 16, we’ll be returning to Sunset Grill, 4068 Sunrise Hwy, Seaford for the first time in a while. We should get underway about 10 PM and play until 2.
This weekend also marks the debut of a new member, Joe DeJesu, who will be joining me on guitar and singing a bit also. More on Joe in next week’s e-mail.
I’ll talk to you next time, have a great week.

Time, or lack thereof, forces me to make this short and sweet this week so here goes…….
There is a Happy Hour at Napper Tandy’s, 275 RT 25A, Miller Place, this Friday, January 25, at 7:30ish PM. There is no other band after us, so we’ll be able to set up on the stage and we don’t have to end at exactly 10 PM.
The next public date after that one is at Napper Tandy’s, 15 E. Main Street, Smithtown, on Friday, February 8.
And finally a “heads-up” to the western Nassau folks that there’s a Sunset Grill date on the horizon on Saturday, February 16.
OK, thanks for your time. Have a wonderful week and I’ll speak with you soon.

We’re closing out the month with a pair of Napper Tandy’s Happy Hours beginning this Friday, January 18, at Napper Tandy’s, 15 E. Main Street, Smithtown. We start as close as possible to 7 PM and end at 10 and try to take really short breaks!
Then we do the same thing on Friday the 25th at Napper Tandy’s, 275 RT 25A, Miller Place. The start is usually closer to 7:30 because my commute is farther, but we are usually able to play a little later there.
I’d also like to mention, with the summer being by far our busiest time of year, that now would be a good time to “touch base” with Jim if you’re considering us for a private affair, especially since most requests are for parties in the summer. You wouldn’t have to commit this early, of course, but it would make Jim’s task a little less daunting as he prepares the dates for Claudio’s and the like if he knew there were some dates he may need to leave open. You can contact us through our website, www.xsessionmusic.com or you can simply respond to this e-mail. Responses come back to me exclusively and not to the entire list.
I hope you all had a great New Year. It’s nice to be writing you all once again, see you soon.
Pat
