X-Session, Unfiltered

It’s come to my attention that some folks have found the website a bit confusing and have had a hard time finding X-Session’s “full-band” gigs so, towards that end, we’ve removed all the solo, duo, and trio gigs from the “Upcoming Shows” section of the website and left only the X-Session dates. I hope to have a link to a site where the smaller combo gigs can be listed soon, but for now you’ll just have to rely on the weekly e-mail.

Speaking of which, this Friday Eddie and I will be playing as a duo for the second consecutive week. This time it’s at Churchills, 18 So Park Ave., Rockville Centre, on Friday June 25. This is a Happy Hour that goes from 5 (yes 5!) until 8.  There is an outdoor area there and I would assume we’ll be outside if the weather permits, otherwise we can take the show indoors. 

Also on Thursday, June 24, I’ll be playing solo as usual at Greek Delight 2601 Merrick Rd., Bellmore, from 7 PM until 10.

X-Session will be at the Sun & Surf Beach Club on Saturday night and is playing a wedding on Sunday, both dates are private unless you’re Owen Wilson or Vince Vaughn (bad “Wedding Crashers” reference — couldn’t help myself). The next public date is Saturday, July 3rd, when we play at Claudio’s in Greenport at 2 PM.

X-Session doesn’t have a full band public date until July 3rd at Claudio’s, but the big news this week is the debut of another X-Sessious combination, me and Eddie. We’ve called ourselves XX and that kinda morphed into Dos Equis. Maybe we can get a sponsorship from the beer company. Anyway, we’re playing as a duo the next two Fridays. This Friday, June 18, we play at Lola’s Kitchen and Wine Bar (they don’t have a website as far as I can tell), 180 W Park Ave., Long Beach, from 9:30 until 12:30. We’re hoping that a good turnout here will lead to regular dates.

Ed and I are also playing a Happy Hour date in Rockville Centre on Friday June 25th at Churchill’s, 18 South Park Ave., Rockville Centre. This one goes from 5 PM until 8. They have an outdoor area there and I assume that if the weather is good that’s where we’ll be.

And of course I’m playing a solo date on Thursday, June 17, at Greek Delight 2601 Merrick Rd., Bellmore at 7 PM.

Yet another X-Sessious configuration — this one being “X-Session Classic”– the 1997-2007 trio lineup of Jim, Eddie, and myself, will be at Claudio’s, 111 Main St., Greenport, on Sunday June 6 from 2 PM until 6.

On Wednesday, June 2nd I, aka “Patrick the Mailman,” will be delivering a solo performance at RS Jones ,153 Merrick Ave, Merrick from 7 PM until 10.

Thursday, June 3, finds me where you can always find me on Thursdays, Greek Delight, 2601 Merrick Rd., Bellmore, from 7 ’til 10.

And finally, on Friday June 4, I’ll be at Grillfire, 13 North Park Ave., Rockville Centre, from 10 PM until 1.

I have a pair of solo gigs late in the week followed by X-Session getting the summer season underway on Saturday at Claudio’s.

Memorial Day weekend is approaching, and on Saturday, May 29 at 1:30 PM X-Session will be playing on the outdoor deck at Claudios 111 Main St., Greenport. While the initial forecast looks good — temps in the high 60’s with little or no chance of rain — please be advised that I will always post Twitter updates concerning weather-related cancellations throughout the summer season from my cell phone. I promise not to waste your time with what I’m doing on a Tuesday morning on the way to the dentist or with political opinions.

On Thursday, May 27, I’ll be playing solo where I do so every Thursday – Greek Delight, 2601 Merrick Rd., Bellmore. I’ll be playing here from 7 until 10. Come for a drink or sit down and have dinner, my friends Harry and Nick will make sure you have a great time.

Also, Friday, May 28 will find me at Sanibel, 12 Watkins St., Lynbrook (Merrick Rd. & Watkins St.). The dining room here is seperate from the bar area, which is where I play. I start at 9 PM and play until midnight.

I have a solo date this Wednesday, May 19, at a wonderful little place called RS Jones. They’re located at 153 Merrick Ave., Merrick, and feature Southwestern cuisine as well as a full bar area, which is where I’ll be. I’ll be starting at 7 PM.

On Thursday, May 20, I’ll be at a wonderful little place called Greek Delight, 2601 Merrick Rd., Bellmore. The cuisine here is Southeastern European, aka Greek, and I’ll likewise be playing from 7 until 10.

On Friday, May 21, XXX — the trio of Eddie, Joe and myself — will be at a wonderfully large place called Napper Tandy’s Miller Place. They’re located at 275 RT 25A in Miller Place and pub-type fare is on the menu here. We’ll go from about 7 until about 11.

And as the weather gets warmer, X-Session’s first East End date appears on the horizon. We’ll be at Claudio’s (yet another pretty wonderful place) on Saturday, May 29, at 1:30 PM to get the summer of ‘10 started right. X-Session has a few weeks off — our next gig is Saturday, May 29 at Claudio’s — and XXX (me, Eddie and Joe) won’t be playing until Friday May 21 at Napper Tandy’s in Miller Place, so I’m just going to mention that I will be solo at Greek Delight, 2601 Merrick Rd, Bellmore on Thursday, May 13, at 7 PM and at Sanibel Chophouse 12 Watkins St., Lynbrook, on Saturday May 15 at 9 PM.

Additionally, I’ll be at RS Jones, 153 Merrick Ave., Merrick, on Wednesday evening May 19 at 7 PM.

There are three gigs with three different configurations coming up at week’s end, and I’ll tell you about them in reverse chronological order.

On Saturday, May 8th, X-Session returns to Matty T’s, 356 Commack Rd., Deer Park. We start at 10 PM and go until 2. It felt great playing down in Freeport this past weekend and we hope to build on that.

Friday, May 7th, it’s Triple-X — me, Eddie and Joe — at The Fishery, 1 Main St, East Rockaway. This also starts at 10 but only goes until 1. By the way, The Fishery’s calendar shows as “EXSESSIONS (UNPLUGGED).” Ouch.

And finally, you can find me playing my acoustic guitar and singing this and every Thursday evening at Greek Delight, 2601 Merrick Rd., Bellmore, from 7 PM until 10.

This just in. Due to a weather forscast this Saturday calling for temperatures in the mid 80’s, the four members of X-Session will be playing this Saturday, May 1, at Hudson & McCoy, 340 Woodcleft Ave., Freeport from 6 ’til 10 PM. Hope to see you there.

I’m playing my customary Thursday-night gig at Greek Delight, 2601 Merrick Rd., Bellmore this Thursday, April 29, at 7 PM.

On Friday, May 7, Eddie, Joe and myself — aka XXX — will be at The Fishery,1 Main St., East Rockaway, beginning at 10 PM. I don’t know whether this will be outdoors or in, I suppose it depends on the weather. I do know that they have music thru the winter here, so the date is definitely NOT weather-permitting.

And it pleases me to write that on Saturday, May 8, X-Session plays at Matty T’s, 356 Commack Rd., Deer Park. This is also a 10 PM start.

On a personal note, I did an interview with the editor of Bellmore Life — the local Bellmore newspaper — for a piece in their entertainment section that comes out this Wednesday. I hope the interviewer knew I was kidding when I said that “in X-Session I’m the ’straw that stirs the drink!’”
